Snow covers the ground in early December and begins to gradually melt away in April for the spring. At Sugadaira Kogen, the temperature generally remains below 0 degrees between December and mid February, producing snow coverage of approximately 2 meters. From late February onward, snowfall drops and the temperature climbs up to about 0 degrees, producing perfect conditions for enjoying winter sports. Its 40 highly-experienced instructors provide safe instruction to everyone from infants through to seniors. Every year, Sugadaira Kogen is visited by many people from various countries including Southeast Asia who come to enjoy sports. Beginners learn how to walk and stop in the morning, then progress to riding lifts up the mountain and skiing slowly back down in the afternoon. On the second day, beginners take different lifts up the mountain and ski over the vast expanse of Sugadaira Kogen. Snowboarding@An active sport that involves no walking but enables boarders to glide over deep snow as if they are surfing and to perform jumps. Beginners learn how to slide sideways and stop in the morning. In the afternoon, they take the lifts up the mountain and slide back down across the slope. On the second day, beginners take lifts up the mountain and learn how to turn on a gentle slope. Snowshoeing@Snowshoes are a convenient way of walking freely over the surface of the snow, even when it is soft, and they can be used easily by beginners.
